South Korea’s Democratic Party Launches Digital Asset Committee to Shape Crypto Policy
South Korea’s Democratic Party has formed a Digital Asset Committee to craft national cryptocurrency policies and stimulate growth in the sector. The committee, established as part of the party’s election campaign, held its inaugural meeting on May 13 at the National Assembly Members’ Hall in Seoul.
Led by Rep. Min Byeon-deok, the group aims to draft campaign pledges, propose legislation, and develop regulatory frameworks. Early discussions have focused on the Basic Digital Asset Act, dubbed the "Stage 2 Bill." The committee’s long-term goal is to evolve into a presidential-level body, signaling South Korea’s escalating commitment to digital asset regulation.
